An ode to my hair
This creative project was inspired by my personal journey with loving my hair
Often seen in history black individuals are mistreated, denied opportunities and branded with racial slurs due to our appearance. With our hair being high on the list of our natural characteristics that are used to attack us.

The custom newsprint fabric featured for these two pieces was created using excerpts from articles about the history of black hair & quotes from a number of different black women speaking on their hair journey, as well as the beauty and versatility that our natural hair carries.
